Darlene Edwards

As a mixed-media and multimedia artist, my work delves into the abstract, celebrating rich textures and vibrant landscapes. Utilizing a diverse palette that spans acrylics, oils, alcohol ink, and joint compound, I craft visual experiences that captivate the senses and invite exploration.

In selecting subject matter, my guiding principles are uniqueness and allure. I am drawn to scenes that immediately capture the eye and ignite curiosity. Whether it’s an unexpected color combination or an intricate texture, each piece begins with an element that is both distinct and compelling.

Color and depth are central to my artistic expression. A particular scene must resonate with these qualities to inspire my creative journey. This fascination with hues and spatial intricacies allows me to create works that are not just seen but felt on a visceral level.

Inspiration comes from the vibrancy of color and the starkness of contrast, as well as the rich tapestry of family diversity. Each piece is a homage to these influences, reflecting the dynamic interplay of different elements coming together to form a cohesive whole.

The uniqueness of my art lies in my technique, characterized by experimentation and trial and error. Embracing happy mistakes, I find beauty in the unexpected and unplanned. This approach allows me to push boundaries and discover new dimensions within my work, making each creation a singular expression of my artistic vision.

In essence, my art is a journey—a continual exploration of color, texture, and depth, informed by the diverse inspirations and experiences that shape my world. Through each piece, I aim to share a fragment of this journey, inviting viewers to see the world through my eyes.
