Maggie Capettini

I am a multidisciplinary artist whose work reflects meditative moments of connection with nature, psychological and spiritual theories of mind, and my experience living with multiple chronic illnesses.

As a Midwest artist, my nature-based art is influenced by seasonal cycles. My alla prima oil paintings, done in one session and often on location, are a testament to the depth and abundance of nature, while my ceramic sculptures mimic the organic lines found in the natural world. A lifelong interest in psychology and spirituality leads me to explore the process of interpreting and relating to memories and emotions through richly layered and textural abstract oil paintings. In my “a complex patient” series, the medium is determined by the message as I document my health journey and highlight the inefficiencies of contemporary healthcare in the United States.
