Faculty Artists: "Through the Voice of the Viola" featuring violist Rose Armbrust Griffin

“Through the Voice of the Viola, the Instrument that is Never Satisfied” features violist Rose Armbrust Griffin, a faculty member of 15 years at Wheaton College, joined by pianist Hyejin Cho. The program brings together works by Caroline Shaw and Shawn E. Okpebholo alongside César Franck’s Violin Sonata, heard here through the distinctive and rich voice of the viola. Griffin’s wide-ranging career includes performances with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Lyric Opera of Chicago Orchestra, as well as collaborations with artists such as Itzhak Perlman, Joshua Bell, Vadim Gluzman, Marta and Ani Aznavoorian, and Robert Chen. Her musical path also spans diverse stages, from appearances at Lollapalooza with Laufey to performances with Andrea Bocelli and The Eagles. Don’t miss this opportunity to hear the viola’s distinctive voice explored with depth, warmth, and expressive character.

This concert, part of the Faculty Artists Series at Wheaton College, will take place in the Concert Hall of the Armerding Center for Music and the Arts at 520 E. Kenilworth Ave. on Wheaton’s campus. For more information, call the Conservatory of Music at 630.752.5010.
